Our Code of Ethics

This code sets out the expectations of the Donor Board on how those who work for Arcadia (“our employees”) should behave in the conducting of Arcadia business.

Individual conduct:

  • We expect our employees to act with honesty, integrity and fairness at all times.
  • No form of bribery, including improper offers or payments, to or from our employees will be tolerated.
  • The accepting of hospitality or gifts that might appear to place our employees under any obligation will be avoided.
  • Our employees must comply with the provisions of all applicable domestic and international laws, standards and principles relating to anti-corruption.
  • It is expected that our employees will avoid any contacts that might lead to, or suggest, a conflict of interest between their personal or other business activities and the business of Arcadia. Where our employees have a contact with a potential grantee, they will declare it and decisions will be taken in accordance with Arcadia’s normal practices but with minimal involvement from that individual employee.
  • Where any of our employees are a member of the Board of another charity as a consequence of their involvement with Arcadia, they should resolve any possible conflicts of interest in accordance with Charity Commission practice.
  • Our employees may have knowledge of Arcadia’s investment portfolio. They undertake not to make any personal investments based on information learned from Arcadia related investments.
  • For the avoidance of doubt all our employees will provide to the Director of Administration, for review by the Principal Adviser, a list of other business or charitable interests that they have.
  • The Principal Adviser will report annually to the Board on any conflicts that may have arisen.
