Arcadia already offers ten new grants for 2009

By February 2009, Arcadia had invited ten organisations to apply for new grants in 2009 totalling $25.8 million. Nearly all of these grants are multi-year commitments, and include the following:

- $5 million to each university library of Harvard, Yale, and UCLA

- $5 million to The Wende Museum

- $1.5 million to Birdlife International

- $1.2 million to Royal Botanical Gardens - Kew Seed Bank

One of the most exciting grants for 2009, although one of the smallest, is an initial grant of $85,000 to the Early Manuscripts Electronic Library. This grant is to support the survey work for a potential five year project to recover the palimpsests held at St. Catherines Monastery at Mount Sinai, Egypt.
