Harvard University Library

Grant Awarded:
$5,000,000

We have offered a grant to Harvard University Library, $5 million to be paid over five years starting in 2009.

This grant, similar to those we have made to Yale and ULCA, is to be used for the Library's core functions, collection building, and dissemination as the Library Directors sees appropriate.

During 2009, Harvard will be using Arcadia's grant for three key projects. Firstly, the grant will be used to strengthen the Library's holdings in all disciplines and languages related to Europe. Secondly, the grant will be used to process and catalogue archive material covering colonial America from the seventeenth century. Finally, the grant will support conservation treatments of fragile or damaged material from some of the Library's seventeenth and eighteenth century collections.

One of Harvard Library's aims is to ensure its position as a premier research institution. We hope our grant to the Library will greatly assist in this aim.
