BirdLife International is a global Partnership of conservation organisations that strives to conserve birds and their habitats. Birds are vital environmental indicators, and studying their habitats tells us about habitats on which we all depend.

Our grant is to establish a Partnership Development Fund between Arcadia and BirdLife International. The grant will provide funding for the professional and organisational development of selected national NGOs within the BirdLife network.

The result will be a more effective group of national conservation NGOs. Their mission will include:

• monitoring and conserving critically endangered bird species
• securing land other key biodiversity sites as important bird areas
• being significant contributors to tackling climate change through avoided deforestation, and ecologically sustainable use of renewable energies
