This is the second Arcadia grant for CCI, a partnership between the University of Cambridge and leading conservation organisations. CCI’s five-year grant will help to support up to five projects per year.
Founding partners also include the RSPB, UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre and the Tropical Biology Association.
CCI is using its collective expertise to better understand and manage human impact on biodiversity. Through research, CCI hopes to inform the decision making of governments and industry.
Interdisciplinary work will also increase the effectiveness of conservation and a programme of training and networking will enhance global leadership and knowledge exchange.
CSI’s current projects include the improvement of regulation of the UK timber trade; assessment of the impact on biodiversity from biofuel production; and an evaluation of the impacts of agricultural policy change on farmland biodiversity.
PROJECT UPDATE:
In 2011, we awarded CCI a repeat grant of $3,400,000 to support a variety of ongoing projects.
