The British Association for the Advancement of Science (BA) re-branded itself in 2009 as the British Science Association with a $91,000 grant from Arcadia.
Founded in 1831, the Association advances the public understanding, accessibility and accountability of the sciences and engineering through national programmes and its regional and branch networks.
However, while events such as the BA Festival of Science have attracted a large and diverse audience, few people were aware that they were organised by the Association. This lack of visibility was hindered by the Association’s use of the name ‘The BA’.
Arcadia’s grant funded a complete re-branding of the Association’s identity and public re-launch to re-position itself as a public body dedicated to promoting science for all. That re-launch has ignited fresh fundraising activities for the Festival of Science and the Association’s CREST award scheme for schools.
