In 2008, Arcadia gave a grant of $1,970,000 to Imperial College London. The awarded grant establishes ‘The Hans Rausing Scholarships’, a scholarship programme that supports PhD students at Imperial College in all fields except business and medicine.

Imperial College is a science-based institution with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research. The London-based institution has been acknowledged as a top tier university in its field in rankings by the Times Higher Education Supplement and Newsweek. Imperial College aims to develop its range of academic activities to meet the changing needs of society, industry and healthcare.

The endowment grant from Arcadia will fund one PhD scholar in perpetuity starting in Spring 2008. The grant will furthermore provide the basis for the College Fund, an investment fund providing Imperial College with an endowment for the continuation of the Hans Rausing Scholarships
