The Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD)

Grant Awarded:
$2,000,000
Grant Description

The Institute for Strategic Dialogue, an independent European policy organisation and think tank, is using the Arcadia grant to help consolidate its structure and long-term programming.

The Institute began in 1996 as the ‘Club of Three’, a regular meeting between influential individuals from Britain, France and Germany. Since then it has grown to include other educational, policy and cultural programmes.

Its mission is to work with leaders in government, media and industry to challenge threats to international peace, while enhancing Europe's capacity to act strategically in the global arena.

The grant, paid over five years between 2008 and 2012, is helping ISD to build a strong organisational structure. This will help it become a more strategic think-tank that can capitalise on growing opportunities, including more frequent government requests to lead cross-border policy initiatives.
