In 2008, Arcadia granted $2.4 million to the Weidenfeld Leadership Programme and Scholarship Scheme at the Weidenfeld Institute for Strategic Dialogue. The Weidenfeld Institute is a London based think-thank working on international affairs within the scope of Europe.

In 2008-2009, the programme will provide scholarships and training in leadership to approximately 40 students primarily from Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Russia, the Middle East and North Africa. The institute enables a selected number of students to pursue their graduate studies at Oxford University. Long term, the Programme is aiming to provide support for 90 scholars to in 2010-2011.

The support from Arcadia will enable five American Scholars annually to study at Oxford University through the Weidenfeld Leadership Programme and Scholarship Scheme. The inclusion of US scholars to the existing programme fulfils the institute’s objective of fostering a transatlantic community of leaders.
