The Endangered Archives Programme (EAP) at the British Library is now accepting applications for the 2020 round of grants. The programme provides grants to digitize at-risk collections around the world (outside Europe and North America) and to make their content freely available online. EAP grantees record pre-1950s archival material including photographs, manuscripts, newspapers and audio. Since we established the programme in 2004, it has supported more than 400 projects in 90 countries, in over 100 languages and scripts.

2019 grant holders will document architectural permits in Accra, palm-leaf manuscripts containing Sri Lanka’s traditional knowledge and Urdu magazines on India’s history of cinema, to name just a few. You can see the full details of the 2019 grants here and read more the application process here. The closing date for submissions for the 2020 round of grants is 11 November 2019 at Midday GMT.
