We require that all publications and other materials produced with our cultural and environmental grants are available online for free.

We also support projects that challenge barriers to open access, create new legal tools for open access to academic publications, and develop best practices for open access to library collections.

Since 2002, we have awarded 71 grants to promote open access, totalling $61m
