In 2022 we awarded $89.7 million in grants. We celebrated 20 years since founding Arcadia and also reached a milestone – $1bn of grants awarded. Highlights from last year include the first dam removals by the European Open Rivers Programme, a new project mapping archaeological sites across 3.5 million square kilometres in South America, and an important victory for the open access movement in the United States. The report also describes our regranting programmes, some of which have been with us from Arcadia’s early days and others of which made their first awards last year.
